Here we have an interesting situation in relation to social media and corporations. As we all know Facebook and other social media sites continue to grow and dominate world wide communication. Through a class discussion the other we touched on an interesting topic. As the organizations become more popular the demand for growth eventually and inevitably becomes more commercialized. This can be seen more and more clearly through the advertisements that pop up on the side of our Facebook pages while we're browsing, or in other words also through word VEVO that seems to be taking over Youtube. This is troubling news because our means of communication are becoming again something we never wanted them to be: ways to advertise to us.
In deeper analysis we analyze then Facebook shifting away from communication and becoming partly a one sided communication model. That is to say, corporations now use it as an advertising source in a one sided communication front. This seems counterproductive to the idea that holds Facebook together at all. It functions in contraposition to the means that have helped birth the democratic revolutions in Northern Africa where communication was so accessible and attainable that demonstrations were easier to organize and ideas permeated every home. This stream of communication back and forth is the key to what makes Facebook so popular. It connects individuals one with another. It gives a voice to the voiceless.
In response to these advertising threats I've recently been hard at work with a new job that is trying to get social media advertising back on track. It's called Kalood, and it's not even the only company starting to go this route. It reconnects the two way communication of Facebook while blending it with corporations' needs to advertise, along with our need as well to be informed of good products and prices. With the company the consumer rates which deals he or she is actually interested in, and then later they are only notified of the deals they have already expressed interest in. This works to de-clutter the rest of our life from the incessant advertising we are faced with every day, and quite frankly, this two way communication channel, is the future not only for our social media sites, but for the whole commercial world as well. The days of individuals being spoon fed information that the "big guys" want us to know are over. The days of individuals seeking out what information they are interested are here.

Start now to speak back.
